The fellowship was truly amazing in teaching us a brand new skill set in medical-based digital drawing. It was an incredible opportunity to learn how to create accurate and detailed illustrations that could be used in the medical field. I'm grateful for the chance to have been able to learn from Dr. Kellner and enhance my skills in both medical drawing and health literacy.
DrinaDrinaVanderbilt, Fellow '23
This was a great way to not only build skills that are useful for studying but a cool way to learn about procedures in different fields of medicine as someone who wants to be a surgeon in the future but doesn't know exactly what specialty.
AnushaAnushaUniversity of South Carolina, Fellow '23
The biggest thing for me was breaking the stigma that in order to draw, you must be a perfect artist. I had no prior experience with art, but I felt as though with this fellowship, I gained an ability to draw any medical process or treatment that I may encounter in my professional career.
NicoleNicoleNorthwestern, Fellow '24
The drawing techniques we practiced have not only improved my ability to visually communicate complex ideas but also enhanced my overall understanding of anatomy and pathology. It's one thing to learn about a condition in a textbook, but being able to draw it out really solidified my knowledge in a way that traditional studying methods often don't.
GillianGillianTulane, Fellow '26
I couldn't say enough good things about this Fellowship!! I am so grateful for the skills I obtained participating in these modules. I am super excited to apply these skills to my academic and professional future careers.
SashaSashaHarvard, Fellow '23
I came away with exposure to new pathologies and procedures. Overall, I appreciated how this fellowship showed me how useful digital drawing can be in medicine.
WilliamWilliamUniversity of South Carolina, Fellow '23
As a shadowing student at my local hospital this summer I was able to see 3 of the lessons in person. I thought this was extremely beneficial as I was able to communicate with the surgeons on a professional level and understand what was going on. In doing so, I was able to ask more in-depth questions that were more relevant to the surgeries rather than “basic” anatomical ones.
AndreannaAndreannaUniversity of Michigan, Fellow '23
As a pre-med student, I think it is really inspiring to be able to engage with material about patient care, communication, and treatment. It is easy to lose sight of the more humanistic side of medicine, but engaging with it in the format of this fellowship has been really uplifting.
IsabellaIsabellaNortheastern University, Fellow '25
Throughout my college experience, I took the basic pre-med requirements, but none scratched the surface of medicine, terminology, and procedures that are common in different areas of medicine. I mostly learned about molecular science in terms of taking multiple biology and chemistry classes, so this fellowship provided a new perspective on medicine that advanced my knowledge.
AveryAveryClemson University, Fellow '26
I've really enjoyed the Fellowship so far. I genuinely feel like I've learned a lot, especially about how to communicate complex medical information in a way that's easier for patients to understand. I definitely think my drawing skills have improved, but even more than that, I've found myself thinking differently about how to explain procedures and medical concepts. It's been a really valuable experience, and I can see myself using these skills throughout my career.
AlyssaAlyssaVanderbilt University, Fellow '26
The Draw Medicine Fellowship has been the best way to supplement all my other activities, and the modules have been super insightful and informative. I've definitely been noticing an improvement in my drawing skills! I've also been shadowing an orthopedic hand surgeon a few times, and it is interesting to see how he also sketches out hand anatomy for his patients.
MargueriteMargueriteHunter College, Fellow '26
This fellowship has taught me so much, especially when it comes to understanding medical procedures, communicating with patients, evaluating chief complaints, and expanding my overall understanding of medicine. Most importantly, it helped me recognize how important health literacy is and how essential it will be for me as I continue pursuing a career in medicine. I am very grateful for everything I was able to learn through this experience and for the opportunity to be a part of the fellowship.
SafaSafaWayne State University, Fellow '26
I love the fellowship! I actually am so glad I decided to do it and it's been such a therapeutic experience to draw as a break from studying! It was great learning from you and meeting other people in the community as well!
BeauBeauWake Forest University, Fellow '26
This experience in the fellowship has been amazing, and I feel as though I have gained so many skills and unlocked a new passion in drawing that I previously did not know was within me! My drawing has definitely improved over the course of this fellowship, and I am very shocked how quickly I was able to pick up these skills. I will definitely be taking what I have learned over this summer and apply it to my future endeavors in medicine!
LilyLilyRice University, Fellow '26
I actually just finished the fellowship, and I really enjoyed it! I learned a lot throughout the experience, especially from the modules, and I definitely feel like I've improved both my understanding of the procedures and my drawing skills. I really appreciated the opportunity to be a part of the Draw Medicine fellowship. I really loved it and I found every case so interesting. Learning how to draw has been great and everything is easy to follow! I'm so excited to keep practicing my drawing skills.
RaiyaRaiyaUCLA, Fellow '25
The close-knit community has definitely been my favorite part of the Fellowship. I have never had this kind of access to physicians before. It is often difficult to approach doctors with questions due to their demanding schedules, but Draw Medicine has created an environment full of mentorship, resources, and fellow pre-med students who share the same drive. It has been incredibly inspiring and supportive.
R.V.UCLA, Fellow '25
What has impacted me the most is how visual learning has enhanced my experiences in academic and clinical spaces. I am now able to clearly visualize the anatomy and steps involved because I spent so much time drawing them. That is a powerful skill this program has helped me develop that will definitely pay off in my future as a surgeon.
HelenaHelenaUniversity of Pittsburgh, Fellow '25
I've really been enjoying the fellowship — honestly, I never thought I'd be someone to develop any drawing skills, but the lessons have really helped me gain confidence in taking on new skills. It's been so rewarding to develop a new skill that I can apply not just to different pathologies and procedures, but to experiences beyond medicine as well. I really want to express my gratitude for this opportunity — and for how much you and the team care about the students in your program.
AveryAveryCornell University, Fellow '25
The fellowship has been absolutely fantastic! I was able to utilize the cataract surgery drawing in more than a few cat evals with two different doctors! It's provided such an incredible chance to speak up while scribing!
EmmaEmmaPenn State University, Fellow '25
I am loving the Draw Medicine fellowship so far! This is a very unique program and I love spreading the word about it! I think this will be very useful in my future as a PA as well as a great addition to my resume!
VarshaVarshaUCLA, Fellow '25
I have loved the Fellowship so far! I really appreciate that the fellowship is self-paced. I have loved that I have been able to learn both how to draw digitally and learn more about the pathologies of so many different conditions. Many of the modules introduced me to new topics which were super intriguing.
HalleHalleUniversity of Arizona, Fellow '25
I have really enjoyed learning the unique skill set that Draw Medicine offers. I was always a creative child, so being able to use those creative skills in a way that connects with medicine has been super cool. The fellowship has definitely brought an element of excitement to my pre-med journey. Being a pre-med student can be really difficult at times, so having something that excited me and was interesting, informational, and fun has been an uplifting experience for me.
GabbyGabbyUniversity of Florida, Fellow '25
I loved the fellowship so much. My parents are both physicians and they loved the concept of this course and my drawings! Drawing is so fun for me, so seeing my two passions merge to create something that may help my future patients was so rewarding. Thank you for this summer!
AnesiaAnesiaWake Forest University, Fellow '25
Thank you so much for making this a wonderful and educational summer. I'm excited to use these skills as a future student and provider, and to continue using digital drawing to support my studies in school!
EvaEvaMichigan State University, Fellow '25
My favorite part of the fellowship was feeling confident after drawing a procedure — I truly felt that I could explain everything to patients. I feel that I possess enough skills from this course to draw any medical procedure now. This fellowship has been a great experience, and I plan to use this skill for the rest of my career.
LayneLayneCatawba College, Fellow '25
So far, the modules have been fantastic! It's been super simple to comprehend the procedure along with the drawings. I have seen a great improvement in my drawing, and feel as if I am learning a lot and advancing my health literacy. The biggest surprise for me so far is that I am able to draw procedures and such on my own now.
GraceGraceTexas A&M University, Fellow '25
I have loved getting to learn about new procedures/pathologies as well as just drawing skills in general! I have always enjoyed drawing but never felt like I was good at it and this program has boosted my skills and my confidence in them. I want to say thank you for creating a program like this for pre-meds to get to learn about patient communication.
G.P.Texas A&M University, Fellow '25
Personally, my “why medicine” is that not only do I hope to help treat people on some of their best and worst days, but being in the role of a physician I hope to alleviate some of the stress and fear patients feel when it comes to medicine (which I know a lot of comes from poor health literacy). This program has really helped me learn how to do this more clearly and I hope I get to use those skills in the future (and in my pre-med activities). Thank you for giving me the unique opportunity to learn these communication skills and hone in on my “why medicine”. I am excited to continue to do so in the Draw Medicine Beyond program!
AnanyaLouisiana State University, Fellow '25
I have loved everything about the Fellowship! I am really enjoying learning about different body systems and improving my drawing skills. I am gaining a lot of knowledge when it comes to both science and art and have been enjoying exploring both together. I can't wait to use my skills in the future! I am really thankful to be part of the fellowship and connecting with everyone. It has been an invaluable experience for me.
NatalieUC Davis, Fellow '25
I have been loving the Draw Medicine fellowship! My favorite part is probably just being able to learn about all these different medical procedures while learning how to visualize them and communicate that to patients. I feel like I have been able to learn a lot, not just about medicine, but also about digital drawing which has been so fun!
DavisDavisEmory University, Fellow '26
The skills and content from the fellowship were extremely useful in my shadowing experiences. When I shadowed an OB/GYN, he communicated several things to both patients and myself by pulling out a notepad and drawing a basic sketch of a procedure or condition. He found the caliber of the drawings I produced through Draw Medicine impressive, and I'm really happy I was able to share my reproductive system drawings. Learning best practices followed by observing them will serve me well as I work to become a successful doctor.
NicoleNorthwestern University, Fellow '24
I genuinely loved every aspect of the Fellowship. Rebecca was an awesome teacher! Her enthusiasm and passion were infectious, and it made each module not only informative but also enjoyable. I thought each module was thoughtfully designed, and I found myself looking forward to what we would learn next. Overall, the Fellowship was a highlight of my summer, and it has definitely made a lasting impact on how I approach both my studies and my future in medicine. Thank you for such a wonderful learning experience!
BreUniversity of Wisconsin, Fellow '26
I currently work as a CNA at a rehab hospital and came across a patient with a CABG. Because of this fellowship, I knew exactly what the procedure for that was and how to educate my patient on safe practices.
NaomiNaomiYale University, Fellow '26
Many pre-health or pre-med courses tend to prioritize understanding medical knowledge for oneself over conveying the knowledge to the patient, despite the patient being the priority of healthcare. This course brought back the balance and patient-centered focus that pre-health courses tend to forget.
AbigailUniversity of Miami, Fellow '23
This was absolutely incredible and I felt so supported throughout the fellowship. I found the videos to be so helpful and super easy to follow along with. Dr. Kellner does a great job of reiterating the basics so you don't feel lost.
DylanUCLA, Fellow '25
This was such an amazing experience. I grew, learned so much, and found my way of wanting to not only learn medicine but to educate others on it. This was an amazing experience, and I would even be willing to do it again, as I learned so much from it and gained skills that I didn't have before.
SarahSarahUniversity of Georgia, Fellow '25
This has allowed me to have extensive knowledge on concepts so when a patient asked me questions as I was rooming them, I was able to answer in confidence.
NidhishNidhishUniversity of Florida, Fellow '26
Even though I was skeptical at first, I was really glad I participated in this fellowship. Not only did I improve at art, I was able to learn about specific medical procedures while doing it.
GraceUniversity of Notre Dame, Fellow '24
I loved this experience! I learned a lot, I studied pathologies independently, socialized with other premeds around the world, learned applicable information from doctors, and practiced digital art.

I feel that I learned a lot and have tangible skills that I can use during the rest of my pre-med journey and in med school. I think that this is a fantastic program.
ClaraClaraUniversity of Pittsburgh, Fellow '25
I believe that pre-health courses through college don't elaborate or apply the knowledge to the real world experiences. This fellowship did a great job of taking real-world experiences and applying it to communication skills that will be built as practicing providers.
TeaoTeaoIndiana University, Fellow '26
I honestly really enjoyed my time drawing out procedures and developing new communication skills. I am very happy that this fellowship showed me that my artistic abilities can help me with my interest in medicine.
AyannaaAyannaaUniversity of Michigan, Fellow '25

I REALLY enjoyed the modules. They were easy to follow but also informative and educational, and I really enjoyed that they were self-paced. They're a great way to destress and rewind. I'm surprised at just how much drawing the body has helped ME memorize the various structures and their locations. My only wish is that there were more of them! Other than that, they were perfect.
BrielleEmory University, Fellow '23
I've definitely noticed I'm more comfortable and more confident in my drawing skills. I really like how Rebecca goes through each pathology like a case — it's making me start to think like a medical student!
